Helgeland Plast AS and Evoy AS have completed a prototype of a fully electric Polarcirkel boat. The boat was christened by Prime Minister Erna Solberg early August.

In autumn 2018, AKVA Group and Helgeland Plast were contacted by Leif Arne Stavøstrand, CEO at Evoy AS. He wanted to produce an electric Polarcirkel boat, and early 2019 the parties agreed to make the idea a reality.
Skilled employees at Helgeland Plast and Evoy agreed on the boat design, and the construction started. It became a comprehensive process to ensure the best possible result as the construction of a fully electric Polarcirkel never had been done before.
The boat is built in its entirety at the production facilities of Polarcirkel in Mo i Rana, while the engine and battery are supplied by our customer Evoy. Long hours - day and night - resulted in a prototype ready for launch.
The boat is equipped with a battery pack of 100 kWh.
"With a marching speed of 20-25 knop, the battery has a capacity of 1-hour operation. It could charge in 30 minutes which makes it well suited for the aquaculture industry," Stavøstrand says.
After extensive testing, the boat named Evoy1 was delivered to a customer in July, before it was baptized by Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg on August 2nd.
Polarcirkel and Evoy are now working on a solution to commercialize the product and look forward to communicating this to the market. We believe in this product and want to take part in "the green shift". We aim to deliver the first electric boats to customers in 2020.
AKVA Group and Helgeland Plast, together with Evoy, will be presenting the boat at Aqua Nor in Trondheim, August 20-23, and will gladly discuss this exciting project further at Skansen Dock. There will also be opportunities to see other Polarcirkel models at Aqua Nor.
