AKVA group, through Egersund Net's Marine Engineering department, is now accredited to perform mooring analysis.
The purpose of a mooring analysis is to document that the mooring of floating objects can withstand the environmental forces at a specific site.
“This is a big milestone for us. With approved accreditation, the fish farmer will use our mooring analysis as a basis for issuing certificates. In addition, it will be easier for us to enter the Norwegian market both as a supplier of mooring analysis and mooring equipment as we are meeting the requirements for accredited analysis in Norway. I want to thank all people involved who have helped to get the accreditation approved,” says Magnus R. Bollmann, Marine Engineering Manager in Egersund Net and AKVA group.
Egersund Net's Marine Engineering department at AKVA group's Bergen office started doing mooring analysis of facilities in the summer of 2017.
“After more than three years of building technical competence, we decided to work towards accreditation. The process was long and demanding and involved building a comprehensive quality system. An application for Norwegian accreditation was sent in May 2021 and we were awarded the first assessment in August,” says Bollmann.
The assessment team from Norsk Akkreditering consisted of a Lead assessor and an external Technical assessor. This group participated from AKVA group and Egersund Group:

- Ove Veivåg (R&D Manager Nets)
- Frode Valand (Quality Manager Egersund Group)
The accreditation (INSP 072) was awarded on 6 September with validity for five years and applies to mooring analysis of fish farm facilities and feed barges. Type C accreditation means that the accreditation is limited to the Marine Engineering department.
