Grow-out
Grow-out projects can also be based on Re-use technology. However, this requires more water for production, and there are limitations to where such systems can be established at farm sites.

Setting up this kind of facility makes it possible to produce salmon or other fish species in locations that would not normally be suitable for fish farming.
Having Grow-out RAS's in the vicinity of metropoles or other large cities allows for delivery of fresh fish to customers, without having to transport the fish over longer distances. This reduces the CO2 emissions from overseas transport and secures fresh fish for the local market at any time.
For salmon the harvesting size is normally around 4-6 kg, and the projects will typically target 5,000 to 10,000 tons per year.
